Thank you for visiting our submissions portal. Please read the specific guidelines for each genre. We hope you have already visited our magazine at and maybe even read through our archives to get a sense of what we publish.

General Tips:

Please note that we do not publish previously published work, collaborative poetry or prose, creative nonfiction, or reviews in the magazine.

We do allow simultaneous submissions. Please withdraw submissions, or add a note if only part of the submission becomes unavailable, as soon as you receive notice of acceptance elsewhere.

Please do not query us about your submission unless there is need to, such as a deadline for a forthcoming collection. If your submission says "in-progress," this means you have been assigned to readers or editors and you will hear from us when a decision has been made.

We look forward to reading your work!

Thank you for your interest in Memorious: A Journal of New Verse & Fiction. Please read the following guidelines carefully before submitting your poems.

  • We do not accept previously published poems. (This means poems published anywhere online or in print.)
  • Please send 4-6 poems in one attached Word or rtf document that is titled with your first and last name (i.e. PabloNeruda.doc). Your name and email address should be on at least the first page of the document. We request that you include your  cover letter in the note area provided by Submittable.
  • We DO accept simultaneous submissions. If an individual poem is accepted for publication elsewhere, please add a note to your submission ASAP.  Please DO NOT email the editors with individual poem withdrawals. This separates the information from the larger group of people who are reading and deciding on the poems.
  • Because we build each issue carefully, our submission process can take a long time. Please be patient with us: we allow simultaneous submissions for this reason. The note "in-progress" simply means your work has been sorted to the correct staff members and is being read by readers or editors. Please do not query us about your submission unless there is need to, such as a deadline for a forthcoming book. If  your submission says "in-progress" we promise we are moving it through the system as thoughtfully as we can. The poetry section of the magazine is built every six months, so we may hold on to your poems that long, or longer if they are being considered for the following issue. Please know that your poems are read by multiple readers and editors, so what we lack in speed we hope we make up for in care.
Thank you for considering us as a venue to send your work. We look forward to reading your poems!

We will be reading fiction for Memorious 28 until April 1st.

Please send one story or no more than three short shorts in a word or .rtf document. (We are sorry to say that we do not publish creative nonfiction.) There are no length restrictions. Include your bio/cover letter in the space provided by Submittable.

We do not consider previously published work, whether it has been published online or in print.

We do accept simultaneous submissions, but ask that you withdraw your submission through this submission system as soon as your work becomes unavailable for consideration.

Please do not email editors with withdrawals. In the case of multiple short works, if any part of your submission must be withdrawn, please withdraw the current submission as a whole through Submittable and resubmit the available work.

Thank you for your interest in Memorious!
